Bauernbrot
German farmers loaf, a heart healthy high fibre loaf, which is also known as “Graubrot” (translated this is literally “grey bread.”) Stone ground dark rye with organic white flour blended through, traditional German style, it takes me back to my youth and “Abendbrot” (evening bread, with cheeses, cold meats, salad, pickles, tea with lemon, eggs, and general conversation.) This is a large loaf, with some caraway seeds to give the authentic north German taste, weighing in at a minimum of 950g it is crusty and keeps well.
